Kamchatka recorded three earthquakes in a row with a magnitude above 5.0
Three earthquakes with a magnitude above 5.0 occurred off the coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. This was announced on July 1 by the Kamchatka Branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS).
It is specified that the seismic events occurred between 23:31 and 23:59 (Moscow time). The magnitude of the earthquakes was 5.0, 5.8 and 5.3. Seismic events occurred on average 200 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
No tsunami threat has been announced.
On July 30, a powerful earthquake of magnitude 8.7 occurred in the Kamchatka Territory. A tsunami threat was declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. Emergency regimes were declared in the North Kuril region of the Sakhalin region and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
