A drone management structure will be created on the basis of the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Trans-Baikal Territory, whose task will be to fight and prevent forest fires. Pavel Volzhin, the Minister of Natural Resources of the region, said this at a meeting on preparations for the 2026 fire season.

"The new structure will be headed by the head of the UAV groups. He will be engaged in training, integration of incoming information, and coordinate the actions of UAV operators of forestry departments, the Trans—Baikal Forest Protection Base, and the Zabaikalleskhoz," the press service of the regional government quoted the minister as saying.

According to Volzhin, the creation of such a structure will reduce the cost of forest monitoring carried out with the help of aviation. The number of flights of planes and helicopters to investigate fires will decrease, which will save the budget.

According to ChitaMedia news agency, the region intends to acquire aircraft-type drones with a range of 600 km. They can reach speeds of up to 130 km/ h, and the flight time will be up to 10 hours. The purchase is expected under the national project "Unmanned aircraft systems".

On July 23, it was reported that the fleet of unmanned aircraft of the Krasnoyarsk Territory will be replenished with 11 aircraft-type drones. miniSIGMA devices are manufactured by a local company. In addition, the Krasnoyarsk Territory received a quota for specialized training of employees of forestry departments, the regional Forest Fire center and Forest Protection.
