A resident of the Omsk region was sentenced for the murder of a father with many children.

A court in the Omsk region sentenced a 59-year-old resident of the village of Novopokrovka, who shot his friend's son, allegedly interfering with their romantic relationship. This is reported by the regional Investigative Committee and the prosecutor's office.

The murder occurred on January 28, 2025. It was established that the man came to the son of his friend, who lives next door, and as soon as he went out into the hallway of his house shot him in the chest, and then disappeared. The 40-year-old victim died on the spot from his injuries.

According to OmskMedia news agency, the shot was fired from an illegally stored hunting rifle. Police officers also found a can of gunpowder in the culprit's house.

The Gorky District Court found a 59-year-old resident of the village of Novopokrovka guilty under Part 1 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Murder" and part 1 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation "Illegal acquisition, storage of explosives". He was sentenced to 12 years in prison to be served in a high-security penal colony.

The convicted person must also pay a fine of 15,000 rubles and pay 3.6 million rubles to the spouse and three children of the murdered man. The verdict has not yet entered into legal force.
