A striking example of cooperation between Russia and Laos will be the signing of a bilateral strategic partnership plan in the military sphere until 2030. This was announced on July 31 by Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov during talks with his Laotian counterpart Khamlieng Uthakaison.
"We are dynamically developing our relations in the field of defense, military, military-technical cooperation, and regularly conduct joint training. We have large—scale projects in the field of humanitarian demining, medicine, topography, military education, and personnel training," Belousov said.
The Minister also noted that in October this year, Russia and Laos will celebrate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries. He added that the signing of the bilateral strategic partnership plan in the military sphere for 2026-2030 would be a prime example of cooperation between the states.
The Minister of Defense of Laos stressed that in the context of the complicated situation in the world, relations between the Russian Federation and Laos continue to develop consistently.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that relations between Moscow and Vientiane are developing steadily and successfully. The Head of State pointed out good prospects for cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy, including peaceful nuclear energy.
