The death toll from a fire in an apartment building in Balashikha, Moscow region, has increased to two. This was announced on July 31 by the head of the district Sergey Yurov.
"Unfortunately, one of the residents and an employee of Mosoblpozhspas died in the fire. I offer my sincere condolences to the families and friends of the victims," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Yurov also said that a temporary accommodation facility has been opened for the victims at the Meteor Stadium, where medical care, water and food are available.
"The fire was localized on an area of 550 sq. m. In total, forces and means consisting of 20 pieces of equipment and 75 units of personnel are involved at the scene of the fire," Alexey Loginov, Deputy head of the Main Directorate of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations for the Moscow Region, said in a video message posted on the department's Telegram channel.
The fire in Balashikha occurred earlier that day. About 90 people, including 10 children, were evacuated from the house. In addition, a criminal case has been opened into the deaths of people.
