Import of new trucks to Russia fell by 90%
According to the results of the first half of 2025, 3,559 new trucks were imported to Russia, which is 90% less than in January-June last year, when 34.2 thousand new trucks were imported into the country. This was reported on July 31 by the analytical agency Autostat.
Over 90% of this volume of trucks in 2025 was imported from China (3257 units). Sitrak became the leader in the import of new trucks among brands with a share of 20.6%. The top five brands in terms of market volume also included FAW (17.5%), Sany (17.4%), Howo (9.7%) and Isuzu (8.1%). For other brands, these figures were less than 5%.
The most popular models in the structure of new truck imports during the reporting period were Sitrak C7H, FAW J7 and Howo T5G, analysts said.
On the eve it became known that Russia banned the release into circulation of a number of models of Chinese trucks brands Dongfeng, Foton, FAW and Sitrak. Rosstandart announced the suspension of Vehicle Type Approvals (OTTS) and Chassis Type Approvals.
Later, AAA Trakservice LLC told Izvestia that the number of Chinese trucks of four brands that need to be upgraded after Rosstandart's statement about their danger could reach 30 thousand units.
