Russian Klepikova reached the final of the World Aquatics Championships
Russian swimmer Daria Klepikova has reached the final of the 100 m freestyle at the World Aquatics Championships. The competition takes place in Singapore.
Klepikova is 20 years old. In the first semi-final heat, she showed the second result, covering the distance in 53.14 seconds. Thus, the athlete updated the Russian record (53.36 seconds), which she set in 2024. The best result in the semifinals of the World Cup was shown by the Dutch Marrit Steenbergen — 52.81.
Another Russian swimmer, Daria Trofimova, failed to qualify for the finals with a score of 54.21 seconds, the Sport-Express newspaper adds.
The World Cup will end on August 3. Russian and Belarusian athletes are allowed to participate in the tournament in a neutral status.
On July 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated the Russian athletes who won the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore. The Head of State stressed that the swimmers proved themselves to be a strong and cohesive team in the combined mixed relay. He also called this discipline one of the most difficult and prestigious.
