In the Republic of Buryatia, it was possible to promptly detain a teenager from Transbaikalia who set fire to a diesel locomotive in Ulan-Ude. This was announced on July 30 by the press service of the regional Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"Employees <...> detained a 17-year-old resident of the Trans—Baikal Territory who was involved in the arson of a diesel locomotive cabin at the Ulan-Ude station," the department's Telegram channel said.

During the interrogation, the teenager immediately confessed to the crime. He said that his actions were led by a supervisor who promised to transfer 100,000 rubles to his electronic wallet for arson. To confirm the completed task, the guy filmed his actions on the camera in his phone. They can be qualified under Article 281 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Sabotage"), the Interior Ministry clarified.

On July 7, Russian FSB officers detained four people in three regions of the country on suspicion of setting fire to law enforcement vehicles and damaging power transmission poles. The detainees stated that the fraudsters had asked them to transfer amounts from 250,000 to 1.5 million rubles to "secure accounts." After that, unknown persons, posing as law enforcement officers, under threat of criminal liability for allegedly financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), persuaded them to participate in arson and sabotage "under the pretext of checking the anti-terrorist security of facilities."
