Syria is interested in Russia's participation in the process of restoring the unity of the republic. This was announced on July 31 by the head of the Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Hassan al-Shibani during a meeting with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.

"The current period is filled with various challenges and threats, but it is also an opportunity to build a united, strong Syria. And, of course, we are interested in Russia being with us on this path," he said.

According to him, Damascus is interested in establishing proper cooperation based on cooperation and mutual respect. The Minister stressed the historical nature of relations between the Russian and Syrian peoples.
