Russians own Suzuki cars the longest, with an average life of 5.8 years. On July 31, Avtoteka experts told Izvestia about this, who studied the history of popular cars no older than 20 years old, sold on Avito Avto in 2025. According to analysts, on average, cars in Russia stay with one owner for a period of just under five years.

The top five in terms of ownership in Russia also included cars of the Great Wall brands (5.6 years), Honda (5.4 years), Daewoo (5.4 years) and Mitsubishi (5.4 years).

Among the models, Russians have owned the GAZ-31105 Volga for the longest time — 7.1 years. Lada 2107 cars, as well as "fours" (2104) and "fives" (2105) have not changed hands for 6.7 years. The top five also included Ford Fusion (6.2 years old), UAZ Hunter (six years old) and Lada 2111 (6 years old). The top ten was completed by Suzuki Grand Vitara, Lada 2115, Suzuki SX4, Toyota Avensis and Nissan Note.

Russians are the fastest to part with Haval cars — on average they are changed after 2.5 years — as well as with Geely and BMW (3.7 years each). Among the most popular models, motorists most often parted with Lada Niva Legend, Omoda C5 and Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max (ownership period 1.5-1.7 years).

Earlier, on July 29, it was reported that in 2025, more than 20% of the secondary car market in Russia is accounted for by cars manufactured more than 20 years ago. Over the past six months, 315 thousand such cars have been resold. The bestseller of this market segment is the Toyota brand.
