Russian Defense Minister Andrei Belousov congratulated the command and personnel of the 98th Guards Airborne Svir Red Banner Order of Kutuzov and Alexander Nevsky Division on the liberation of Chasova Yar in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR). This was reported on July 31 in the Telegram channel of the Ministry.

"The history of the formation and the glorious combat path of the division testifies to the high professionalism and courage of the paratroopers, the continuity of the best military traditions," follows from the telegram sent to the military.

In addition, Belousov stressed that the unit honorably performs tasks in responsible areas, as well as steadfastly and courageously opposes the enemy, moving forward in stubborn battles and occupying advantageous positions.

The Minister thanked the soldiers for the successful fulfillment of combat missions and expressed confidence in their continued fulfillment of military duty, reliable protection of national interests and ensuring the security of the Russian Federation. He also expressed confidence that the "winged infantry" will remain the standard for the ministry and will continue to remain loyal to the country.

Soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation liberated Chas Yar in the DPR earlier that day. Retired Colonel Anatoly Matviychuk, an ex-special forces officer, stressed that the liberation of the settlement creates new prospects for the Russian army in the region. According to him, the Russian army has successfully defeated one of the most combat-ready enemy groups.
