Over the past day, 356 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 35 people were killed and 432 injured. 31 people were killed, including passengers and drivers. This was reported to Izvestia on July 31 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

So, in the Sverdlovsk region, on the 4th km of the Nizhny Salda-Medvedevo regional highway, in the evening, a 21—year-old female passenger car driver ran over a moose crossing the roadway. A passenger in a passenger car was killed in an accident.

In Vladikavkaz, a 36-year-old motorcyclist knocked down a 78-year-old pedestrian who was crossing the roadway in the absence of an organized pedestrian crossing in the visible area, after which the motorcycle overturned. Both participants in the accident were killed — a motorcyclist and an elderly pedestrian.

As a result of 81 accidents, 29 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 52 outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, and 78 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 16 child pedestrians, 11 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway outside the designated areas.

Over the past day, 58 accidents involving minors were registered, in which 57 young road users were injured, including 18 passengers, 10 cyclists and nine motor transport drivers. Two children were killed — a girl pedestrian on a scooter and a girl passenger in a passenger car.

So, in one of the villages of the Orel region, in the evening, a 15-year-old schoolboy without a driver's license, driving an unregistered motorcycle, ran over a five-year-old girl who was unaccompanied by adults riding a scooter along the right edge of the roadway. The girl died. The young motorcyclist initially fled the scene, but was later tracked down.

Also, in one of the rural settlements of the Republic of Dagestan, late in the evening, a 20-year-old passenger car driver drove off the road, followed by a vehicle rollover. As a result of the accident, his 14-year-old sister, who was in the front passenger seat, died. The driver himself was hospitalized with injuries. The cause of the accident was the discrepancy between the speed of the car and the specific traffic conditions.

According to operational data from the State Traffic Inspectorate, 2,205 accidents involving minors under the age of 16 occurred in the Russian Federation in 30 days of July 2025, in which 79 children were killed and 2,445 injured. One of the most vulnerable categories among underage road users are child passengers. While driving in a car with a child, it is important for parents to choose a safe driving style. Sudden maneuvers and lane changes should be avoided. First of all, we are talking about overtaking, which involves driving into the oncoming lane: even where it is allowed by traffic regulations, there remains a risk of an emergency due to violations or inattention of another driver. In addition, if the driver feels tired on a long trip with a child, it is necessary to stop in a safe place to rest.

In addition, one of the main reasons for the increase in accidents among underage drivers is the lack of proper adult supervision, the agency said. Parents often purchase equipment for their children themselves, such as mopeds or pit bikes, which are prohibited from driving on public roads, forgetting to explain the basic rules of travel. In addition, the legal age for driving a particular vehicle is often ignored.

A driver's license with an open category "M" is required to operate a moped and scooter. You can get it after studying at a driving school from the age of 16. At the same time, it is possible to travel on a moped on public roads only in a motorcycle helmet, provided that you have perfect command of the technique of driving such vehicles.

For driving a moped, scooter, motorcycle, or car without the appropriate license, a fine of 5 to 15 thousand rubles is provided, while the vehicle is delayed and placed in a special parking lot. In addition, the fine for transferring the right to drive a vehicle to a child is 30 thousand rubles. Their parents or legal representatives will be responsible for teenagers under the age of 16 who drove vehicles.

"Parents need to strengthen control over the leisure time of teenagers, as well as the availability of vehicles for them. Constantly conduct explanatory conversations with teenagers about the rules of the road and the inadmissibility of driving motor vehicles without a driver's license. Do not leave the keys to cars and motor vehicles for children, thereby allowing the possibility of a dangerous trip. Strictly control children's leisure time, especially in the evening, in order to avoid the possibility of road accidents involving them," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.

On July 24, it was reported that 100 people died in road accidents in Moscow in the first half of 2025. This is 32% less than in the first six months of 2024, when 147 people died in road accidents.
