The Renault Group Board of Directors has officially announced the appointment of a new CEO of the carmaker after the departure of Luca DeMeo. He became Francois Provo, who previously worked in the leadership of the Russian division of the brand. According to Bloomberg, Provo is credited with leading the negotiations on the company's exit from the Russian market in 2022.

Francois Provo takes over as CEO of Renault on July 31 for the next four years. He has 23 years of experience in various structures of the concern, and has international experience in operational and strategic positions. Since 2023, Provo has been Director of Procurement, Partnerships and Government Relations at Renault. In 2010, the Frenchman was appointed Deputy General Director of Renault Russia.

Now Provo will have to build on the recent successes of the concern, including updating the model range. In 2026, the brand is going to launch an affordable car, the Twingo electric car, worth less than 20 thousand euros. The new CEO will also have to complete the reorganization of Renault's alliance with Nissan and determine the company's position in relation to the Chinese market after Demeo gathered a team of engineers there and discussed the prospects for a partnership with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group.

Renault's previous CEO, Luca DeMeo, resigned in mid-July to take up work unrelated to the automotive industry.

Earlier, on February 27, the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that the domestic company could develop effectively on its own and ensure the technological sovereignty of the industry, so it was not waiting for Renault, which had previously been a shareholder, to return.
