- The couple from Moscow were sentenced to 15 and 17 years for working for the intelligence service of Ukraine.
A Moscow couple has been sentenced for collecting data for Ukrainian intelligence on members of the special services and the Russian military, as well as for preparing sabotage in Moscow before Victory Day in 2024. This was announced on July 31 by the Center for Public Relations (COC) of the FSB of Russia.
"The Moscow City Court has sentenced Russian citizens, husband and wife, who lived in Moscow, to 15 and 17 years in prison for committing high treason," the ministry said in a press release.
Russian FSB officers detained the suspects in the spring of 2024. It was established that a man and a woman collected and transmitted to the special service of Ukraine data on the units of the department itself, the Federal Security Service (FSO), the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Main Intelligence Directorate (GRU) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and the Rosgvardiya. They were also interested in the personal data of law enforcement officers, judges and military commissariats.
In addition, on the eve of Victory Day in May 2024, the defendants were going to commit sabotage in Moscow by setting fire to improvised incendiary devices. Then they planned to hide in Ukraine.
On July 25, the Office of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod Region reported that two Russian citizens living in the Nizhny Novgorod and Tver regions had been found guilty of treason in the interests of Ukraine. It is noted that a man from Tver received 17 years in prison, and a resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region who recruited him was sentenced to 14 years in a penal colony.
