Poland has decided to abolish the commission to investigate the alleged influence of Russia and Belarus on Polish politics. Such an order was signed on July 31 by the head of the government of the country, Donald Tusk.

"The commission for studying the influence of Russia and Belarus on the internal security and interests of the Republic of Poland in 2004-2024 is being abolished," the document says on the website of the government bulletin Monitor Polski.

The commission, headed by the head of the Military Counterintelligence Service, General Yaroslav Struzhik, consisted of 11 specialists who were recommended by the Prime Minister and the heads of key departments. It was an auxiliary body for the Prime Minister.

During the work of the commission, three reports were prepared. The first document on the study of the "influence of the Russian Federation" was presented on October 30, 2024. As a result, the prosecutor's office received a motion on suspicion of diplomatic treason against the former head of the Ministry of National Defense, Anthony Macierewicz. The second report prepared by the commission was classified.

On July 30, Tusk made a statement in which he admitted the possibility of suspending the conflict in Ukraine in the "near future." He pointed out that there is a good chance for this, and many signs indicate that hostilities will stop. At the same time, in his opinion, Poland should continue to strengthen the army regardless of the development of events in Ukraine.
