Documents related to the investigation into Russia's alleged interference in the 2016 US presidential election were found in incinerator bags in a secret room at the FBI. This was reported on July 31 by the Fox News channel, citing sources.

"FBI Director Kash Patel discovered a whole warehouse of confidential documents related to the origin of the investigation into Trump's relations with Russia, hidden in several "incinerator bags" in a secret room inside the bureau," the channel quoted sources as saying.

It is reported that the "burning bag" system is used to destroy documents classified as classified or higher. According to the channel's sources, several incineration bags containing thousands of documents were found. Among them was also an addendum to the report by former US Special Prosecutor John Durham, who in 2023 noted that the FBI acted in an atypical manner in the case of the initiated investigation into Trump's alleged ties with the Russian Federation.

"Ultimately, the release of the secret application will give more credence to the claim that there was a coordinated plan within the US government to help the Clinton campaign ignite the controversy linking Trump to Russia," Fox News quoted the source as saying.

On July 20, Trump accused the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama, of fraud in the 2016 presidential election. According to the data released by the Director of National Intelligence of the United States Tulsi Gabbard, the Obama administration concealed intelligence information that Russia then "had no intention and capabilities" to hack the electronic electoral system. Gabbard said on July 23 that Obama should be held accountable for manipulating intelligence data.
