In Kamchatka, an obstetrician-gynecologist at the regional maternity hospital, Mher Adamyan, delivered a patient during a strong earthquake.

"Such conditions often occur in Kamchatka — we are constantly shaking and we are already used to this," he told Izvestia correspondent Sergey Khaidarov on July 31.

He stressed that during the natural disaster, he and his colleagues did not sleep to ensure the rapid evacuation of patients, if necessary.

Despite the earthquake that engulfed Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the medical staff showed exceptional courage by successfully delivering two women. One of them gave birth naturally, and the other required a caesarean section.

On July 31, the Governor of the Sakhalin Region, Valery Limarenko, announced that work was underway in Severo-Kurilsk to eliminate the consequences of the earthquake in Kamchatka. The head of the region added that specialists are currently working to restore the hot water supply.
