A married couple living in Ohio USA became the parents of a boy who developed from an embryo stored since 1994. This was reported on July 30 by the MIT Technology Review magazine.

According to the publication, the donor was Linda Archend, who underwent in vitro fertilization (IVF) 30 years ago, gave birth to a daughter with this intervention and froze three more embryos, for which she continued to contribute money — one of the children born thanks to them was adopted by Lindsay and Tim Pierce.

"Of the three frozen embryos, two were still viable and were transplanted into Lindsey. One of them was successfully implanted, resulting in the birth of Thaddeus Daniel Pierce, a healthy boy, on July 26, 2025," the publication says.

It is specified that the photos of the newborn, who is considered the "oldest child", were sent to Archend. The magazine noted that when looking at the pictures, the woman noted the similarity of the baby with her daughter at the same age.

Sky News reported on July 17 that eight babies with the DNA of three people were born in the UK as a result of a procedure to eliminate an incurable inherited disease. The publication clarified that the experiment to eliminate mitochondrial dysfunction lasted five years, during which time four girls and four boys were born.
