Prince Trubetskoy of the Trubetskoy and Golitsyn family died at the age of 78.

A descendant of the Trubetskys and Golitsyns, Prince Alexander Trubetskoy died at the age of 78. This was announced on July 30 at the Synodal Department for Cooperation with the Armed Forces (AF) of the Russian Federation and Law enforcement agencies.

"In these days of sorrow, let us fervently pray for the repose of the soul of the newly departed servant of God, Prince Alexander. <...> To all the relatives and friends of the deceased Prince Alexander Alexandrovich, I offer my most sincere and deepest condolences," Metropolitan Kirill of Stavropol and Nevinnomyssky, chairman of the department, said in a message posted on the department's Telegram channel.

Prince Trubetskoy, who was born in Paris in 1947 and raised in the Orthodox traditions, devoted his entire life to preserving and strengthening Russian spiritual values and patriotism.

As an honorary professor at Moscow University, as a specialist in Russian history, he was a link between Russia and France, contributing to the development of interstate cultural ties. Trubetskoy's authorship includes many works that were aimed at perpetuating the memory of those who devoted themselves to serving Russia and Orthodoxy.
