- The State Duma assessed Lithuania's plans to prepare the population for military action
Lithuania itself invented the Russian threat and is escalating the situation, but Russia does not threaten the republic. Andrei Kolesnik, a member of the State Duma's defense committee, said this on Wednesday, July 30, commenting on information about Lithuania's plans to begin training instructors in civil resistance in the event of a military conflict.
"They built fortifications along the Neman River, and they built fortifications with the Kaliningrad region. <...> I think this is due to the fact that Germany is going to deploy weapons on the territory of Lithuania, we are not deploying weapons anywhere yet, but they are deploying weapons on the territory of Lithuania and they understand that we may not like this," the politician said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .
In his opinion, Lithuania has invented the danger itself and is escalating the situation.
Earlier in the day, Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic Tomas Godlauskas said that a training course for instructors in civil resistance had started in Vilnius.
He also noted that at the moment it is planned to hold five trainings, where about 150 instructors will be trained, who will further conduct training in other cities and towns of the country.
On April 25, Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda said that Russia cannot be stopped by diplomacy — only by force, writes Pravda.Ru .
