AvtoVAZ will launch production of the most affordable Lada Iskra in August.
AvtoVAZ will start producing Lada Iskra cars in the most affordable version at a price of 1.25 million rubles in August, when employees come out of a single corporate vacation. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta on July 30, citing a company representative.
According to a specialist from AvtoVAZ, the Tolyatti plant plans to produce cars in the simplest configurations in a proportion of about 10% of the total output of the new model. It is noted that by now the copies already delivered to car dealerships have been sold out, but dealers accept orders.
Starting in September, production of Lada Iskra is planned to be established at the Saint Petersburg Automobile Plant, where production of the new Russian Xcite brand cars began last year.
Sales of Lada Iskra started on July 20 in Tolyatti, Moscow and St. Petersburg. Delivery to dealers in other regions is expected within a few weeks. The Iskra sedan costs from 1.25 million rubles in the basic configuration with a manual transmission. The most expensive modification of the model, the raised SW Cross station wagon in the maximum configuration with a CVT, was estimated at 1.8 million rubles.
On July 23, AvtoVAZ explained to Rana the appearance of Renault logos on Lada Iskra parts. When studying the new Lada model, bloggers discovered the markings of a French company on the car parts, as well as components manufactured in Japan and China.
