At the end of July, two meteor showers will reach their peak activity: the Southern Delta Aquariids and alpha Capricornids. Thanks to this merger, on the night of July 30-31, up to 30 "shooting stars" per hour can be seen in the night sky.

The Southern Delta Aquariids are one of the most stable and predictable starfall events in July. Its radiant (a point in the sky that looks like the source of meteors) is located in the constellation Gemini. The stream remains active from July 12 to August 23 and does not have a pronounced peak, however, the highest frequency of meteors (up to 25 per hour) is observed in late July and early August.

Alpha Capricornides is a weak meteor shower, producing about 5 "shooting stars" per hour at its peak. However, the low intensity is offset by the brightness — the stream is known for slow and incredibly beautiful fireballs. It is active from July 3 to August 15, and its peak in 2025 falls at the end of the second summer month.

The southern delta Aquariids will reach their peak activity at 21:00 GMT (23:00 GMT) and will be clearly visible throughout the night, especially in the Southern Hemisphere. However, it should be borne in mind that in the Northern Hemisphere, the radiant of the stream will rise above the horizon later, so it is better for residents of this part of the world to start observing at midnight local time.
