The earthquake in Kamchatka with a magnitude of more than eight points did not affect the operation of air transport in the region, all flights are operated as scheduled. This was announced on July 30 in a message from the Federal Air Transport Agency.
The 12 airfields and landing sites in the region, which are part of the Kamchatka Airports Federal State Unitary Enterprise, have not stopped working, the department said. Specialists, after examining all airport infrastructure facilities, stated that no damage was found.
"The air transport infrastructure facilities in the Sakhalin Region were not affected, the airfields of the region did not fall into the earthquake zone," the Rosaviation website says.
At the same time, regular flights to the Severo-Kurilsk (Paramushir) landing site in the Sakhalin region have been canceled due to the threat of flooding of the runway, the press service warned.
Earlier in the day, an earthquake occurred in the Kamchatka Territory. A tsunami threat has been declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. Emergency regimes were declared in the North Kuril region of the Sakhalin region and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
