The Moscow State Duma imposed a fine for illegally offering taxis at airports
The Moscow region has adopted a law on the establishment of fines for offering taxi services at airports in the Moscow region (Domodedovo, Sheremetyevo and Zhukovsky) outside specially designated areas. The Moscow State Duma announced this on July 30.
The fines will amount to 5,000 rubles for citizens, 20,000 rubles for officials and 50,000 rubles for legal entities. The ban on offering passenger taxi transportation services in the absence of booking desks was introduced by a government decree in March. Authorized employees of the Ministry of Transport and Road Infrastructure of the Moscow Region will be responsible for bringing them to justice.
As explained by the chairman of the Moscow State Duma Igor Bryntsalov, the decision was made so that passengers would not encounter illegal carriers and intrusive "touts", and ordering a taxi was safe and convenient.
"As a rule, private taxi drivers do not undergo medical examinations, and cars undergo technical pre-trip inspections. In addition, trips by illegal taxis are often much more expensive," Bryntsalov said.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that the State Duma is preparing a bill that would require buses designed for 22 or more passengers to be equipped with air conditioning and heating systems.
