The threat of a tsunami has been lifted in the Kamchatka Territory. This was announced on July 30 by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the region Sergey Lebedev.
"Dear residents and guests of the Kamchatka Territory, our colleagues from the UGMS (Department for Hydrometeorology and Environmental Monitoring. — Ed.), the tsunami alarm was canceled," he said in a video message posted on the regional government's page on the VKontakte social network.
Lebedev also urged caution and did not approach the coastline.
The earthquake occurred earlier in the day. A tsunami threat has been declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. An emergency situation regime is in effect in the North Kuril region of the Sakhalin Region and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
A regional headquarters has been deployed in Kamchatka, and the healthcare system has been put on high alert. According to the Kamchatka Ministry of Health, one person was injured, the woman's condition is satisfactory. Later it was reported that at the moment there may be from 7 to 8 thousand tourists in Kamchatka.
