The second earthquake of magnitude 5.2 was registered in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Severo-Kurilsk. This was announced on July 30 by Elena Semenova, head of the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk seismic station.

"An earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred in the Pacific Ocean on July 30 at 19:40 (11:40 Moscow time. — Ed.)," Semenova told RIA Novosti.

According to her, the epicenter of the seismic event is located 100 km from the south of the Severo-Kurilsk regional center on Paramushir Island. The source was located at a depth of 65 km, but an earthquake with a force of up to 3 points could be felt in Severo-Kurilsk.

The earthquake occurred earlier in the day. A tsunami threat has been declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. In Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, the collapse of the wall of one of the kindergartens was recorded. The state of emergency is in effect in the North Kuril region of the Sakhalin region and in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.

On behalf of the Governor of Kamchatka, Vladimir Solodov, a regional headquarters was deployed in the region. The healthcare system has been put on an enhanced regime. According to the Kamchatka Ministry of Health, one person was injured, the woman's condition is satisfactory.
