In the Trans-Baikal Territory, a volunteer fire brigade community will be created in Smolensk. The governor's grant of 1 million rubles will be allocated for these purposes. The regional public organization Harmony won the grant competition.

According to project manager Natalie Chimitova, quoted by ChitaMedia news agency, its main goal is to provide comprehensive prevention and elimination of forest fires, increase the safety of residents and their property.

The project participants will be tasked with identifying cases of negligence, organizing patrols, and holding local residents accountable if they violate fire safety regulations. The organization will also conduct raids and workshops for schoolchildren and adults.

In addition, the authors of the project will develop an action plan in case of a fire. It will include gathering places for people, the distribution of responsibilities among members of the volunteer squad during an emergency, and evacuation routes.

At the first stage, volunteers will be assigned to various areas of activity, such as repair and storage of fire equipment, patrolling the territory and accounting.

Earlier it was reported that a criminal case was opened in the Trans-Baikal Territory against two 16-year-old teenagers suspected of committing a terrorist act by prior agreement. According to investigators, in June, one of the minors entered into correspondence via messenger with an unidentified person allegedly located on the territory of Ukraine. The interlocutor persuaded the teenager to set fire to the forest for the promised reward of 80 thousand rubles. He involved his friend in the crime, with whom they purchased lighters and set fire to dry grass and needles in the forest near the village of Atamanovka, Chita district.
