The threat of a tsunami has been lifted from the Kuril and South Kuril urban districts, but in North Kurilsk there remains a danger to the coastal zone, where the port and the damaged fish processing plant are located. Alexey Belik, Chairman of the Government of the Sakhalin Region, told Izvestia about this on July 30.

At the same time, residents have already returned to their homes, and electricity supply has been restored throughout the district.

Belik said that seven requests from citizens for help had been recorded. No pipeline damage was detected. Currently, he said, all services are assessing possible damage and preparing for the autumn-winter period.

"We will provide all necessary assistance to the population immediately. Every citizen's appeal will be under personal control," Belik assured.

Later, the governor of the Sakhalin Region, Valery Limarenko, announced that the first wave of the tsunami had hit the territory of the coastal zone of Severo-Kurilsk. He added that residents are being evacuated in the city, and all necessary measures have been taken to ensure people's safety.

On behalf of the Governor of Kamchatka, Vladimir Solodov, a regional headquarters was deployed in Kamchatka. The region's healthcare system has been put on high alert. According to the Kamchatka Ministry of Health, one person was injured, the woman's condition is satisfactory.
