The court sentenced to imprisonment Aslanbek Kazanchev and Anzor Batyrov (both listed as terrorists), who participated in the attack on soldiers of the 6th company of the Pskov Airborne Division in 2000 in the Chechen Republic. This was announced on July 30 by the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia Svetlana Petrenko.

It is specified that both terrorists fought as part of the gangs of terrorists Shamil Basayev and Emir Khattab.

The investigation established that on February 29, 2000, Kazanchev and Batyrov, as part of a joint armed group led by Basayev and Khattab, took part in an attack on soldiers of the 6th company of the 104th Regiment of the 76th Pskov Airborne Division. The battle took place in a mountainous and wooded area near the village of Ulus-Kert and lasted until the morning of March 1. As a result, 84 soldiers were killed and four others were injured.

"The verdict of the Southern District Military Court sentenced Kazanchev and Batyrov to 17 and 14 years in prison, respectively, to be served in a high—security penal colony," Petrenko said.

On July 4, it was reported that Vakhit Khamzatkhanov and Takhir Begeldiyev (both listed as terrorists), who fought in the gangs of Shamil Basayev and Emir Khattab, were sentenced to imprisonment in a high-security colony. In 1999, Begeldiyev and Khamzatkhanov joined a terrorist gang and took an active part in committing serious and especially serious crimes. It is specified that on October 4, 1999, they took part in an ambush on Russian military personnel, as a result of which 15 soldiers were killed and 28 more were wounded.
