The Japanese government is wary that tsunami waves caused by a strong earthquake in Kamchatka may reach their coastal areas. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on July 30, citing sources.

"The Japan Meteorological Agency has raised its warning and stated that it expects tsunami waves up to 3 m high to reach large coastal areas," the publication says.

It is specified that a potential tsunami may hit the Japanese coast starting at about 01:00 GMT (04:00 Moscow time).

Fox News Channel learned on July 29 that due to the earthquake recorded in Kamchatka, the threat of a tsunami was announced in Alaska and Hawaii.
