A tsunami wave, which ranged in height from three to four meters, was recorded at the observation point of the Vodopadnaya weather station in the Yelizovsky district of Kamchatka. This was announced on July 30 by the Minister of Emergency Situations of the region Sergey Lebedev.

"Colleagues from UGMS (Office of the Hydrometeorological Service. — Ed.) reported that visually <...> a tsunami wave of approximately three to four meters was [detected]," he said in his address published on the VKontakte social network.

Lebedev called on all residents to move away from water bodies at the time of the tsunami alert.

On July 29, specialists from the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (USGS RAS) announced that a tsunami threat had been declared on the coast of the Avacha Bay. Later that day, FOX News reported that due to the earthquake in Kamchatka, a tsunami threat was also declared in Alaska and Hawaii.
