An invasion of Asian locusts was recorded on the lands of one of the farms on the border of the Neftekumsky and Levokumsky districts (Stavropol Territory). The hearth area was 30 hectares, according to the press service of the regional branch of the Rosselkhoznadzor.

Immediately after the discovery of dangerous insects, the farm staff treated the field with chemicals. The next day, the special commission examined the treated area and 700 hectares of the surrounding area along the Kuma River. The locusts have partially died.

As of July 28, 476 thousand hectares have been surveyed in the region, writes IA StavropolMedia. Locust infestation has been detected in some areas, but the economic threshold of harmfulness has not been exceeded anywhere.

As assured in the Stavropol Rosselkhoznadzor, insecticide from the federal and regional budgets will be enough for any development of the situation. The volume of available preparations is almost 24 thousand liters, which is enough to process over 317 thousand hectares.

Earlier, Izvestia wrote that an invasion of locusts is expected in 21 regions of Russia due to the warm winter. In particular, we are talking about the Astrakhan, Volgograd, Samara, and Chelyabinsk regions.
