Gorky+ Festival program announced in Moscow
The program of the Gorky+ Art Festival in Moscow includes concerts, premieres of performances, film screenings and lectures. The event dedicated to the work of writer Maxim Gorky will be held from August 28 to 31, Gorky Park will be the central venue, said Deputy Mayor Natalia Sergunina.
"Dozens of events have been prepared for Muscovites and tourists. Theater groups from the capital, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Kazan, Yekaterinburg and other cities of Russia will show their productions," the vice mayor said.
This year's theme of the festival is the author's relationship with the heroes of the era: writers Leo Tolstoy and Anton Chekhov, poet Vladimir Mayakovsky, composer Sergei Rachmaninoff, singer Fyodor Chaliapin and theater director Vsevolod Meyerhold.
A musical performance with the participation of People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Art director of the festival Evgeny Mironov and the Moscow State Academic Chamber Choir will be presented on the main stage of Gorky Park. The plot is based on the short stories "Makar Chudra" and "The Old Woman Izergil".
Several concerts are also planned here: the Academy of Russian Music Symphony Orchestra will perform works by Sergei Rachmaninoff and Edvard Grieg.
The troupes of the St. Petersburg Puppet Format Theater, the Novosibirsk State Drama Theater Old House, the Kazan State Theater of the Young Spectator, the Voronezh Chamber Theater and other collectives will also perform in front of the guests.
Performances within the framework of the festival will also be shown at the Moscow Theater of the Young Spectator, the Moscow Jewish Theater "Shalom" and the Mossovet State Academic Theater.
Some events will require pre-registration.
The event will be part of the large-scale "Summer in Moscow" project, which will bring together over 400 venues. Its program includes festivals, charity and sports events, concerts, workshops, film screenings, and theatrical productions.
