In an interview with Radio 1 on Tuesday, July 29, the expert called the benefits of ice cream overestimated — it contains a lot of sugar and fast carbohydrates, as well as fat of creamy origin.
According to her, this combination is a "cheap source of energy" that easily leads to overeating, because ice cream is high in calories and quickly causes a feeling of fullness.
Lazurenko stressed that you should not get carried away with this dessert: a sharp jump in glucose, an insulin release and its subsequent drop are stressful for the body. However, it is occasionally acceptable to include ice cream in the diet if a balanced diet remains a priority.
On the same day, Lazurenko noted that sorbet is the safest type of ice cream for the figure, Moscow 24 notes. The nutritionist noted that ice cream should not be used instead of main meals, but sorbet can be considered as a light fruit snack, which has little effect on the total daily calorie intake, writes RT.
On July 26, cardiologist Yuri Konev, in an interview with the National Health Service, called an almost unrealistic heart attack from ice cream in the heat. The main thing is not to eat the treat too quickly and in large chunks. Otherwise, theoretically, angina pectoris is possible, notes 360.ru .
In June, doctors at the Scientific Research Clinical Institute of Childhood advised against feeding ice cream to children under the age of two. Ice cream contains a lot of sugar and fat, sugar can disrupt the balance of intestinal microflora, increase the risk of diabetes and tooth decay, lead to nervous excitability and mood swings.
In May, doctor Andrey Tyazhelnikov, in an interview with the Moscow City News agency, said that some types of fruit ice contain 27% sucrose, which is twice as high as in ice cream. In addition, there are practically no vitamins from fruits in this ice cream.
