The information that the Russian Interior Ministry allegedly plans to ban the purchase, sale and operation of vehicles with a right-hand drive is not true. This was announced on July 29 by the official representative of the Ministry, Irina Volk, in her Telegram channel.

She explained that, according to the draft Strategy for Improving Road Safety in the Russian Federation for the period up to 2030 and for the future up to 2036, it is planned to focus on educational work with drivers of right-hand drive vehicles.

In addition, the strategy involves an emphasis "on mechanisms for mutual adaptation of vehicles and road infrastructure, taking into account the specifics of the established traffic order," Wolf wrote.

On July 15, it was reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia proposes to review approaches to the admission of cars with a right-hand drive to traffic, taking into account the safety risks created by the operation of such vehicles. The Ministry noted an increase in the import of right-hand drive vehicles to Russia and an increase in the main accident rates with their participation.
