Starting from October 1 of this year, the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) will withdraw 10-kopeck coins from circulation, followed by a queue of 50-kopeck coins. This was reported on July 29 by the Ukrainian edition "Страна.иа ".

"The National Bank is going to withdraw 10 kopecks from the money circulation starting from October. Next up is the withdrawal of 50 kopecks," reads a message posted on the Telegram channel of the publication.

According to the publication, there is no information about the return of such coins, in addition, when they return to the NBU through the banking system, the regulator will not return pennies to the market. The Ukrainian authorities will begin to dispose of them.

It is noted that until October 1, pennies will remain in circulation and banks are required to accept them for replenishment of accounts, transfers, they can also be used to pay for services and goods.

At the moment, there are two operating small change coins in Ukraine — 4.1 billion pieces of 10-kopeck coins and 1.4 billion pieces of 50-kopeck coins. It is added that after the withdrawal of 10-kopeck coins from circulation in Ukraine, 78.4% of coins will become insolvent.

On July 22, CNN reported that the U.S. Treasury Department would stop issuing one-cent coins after more than 200 years of minting, with production expected to end early next year. It is specified that the minting of one-cent coins will be discontinued due to their unprofitability.
