The Thunder Gate fortress in Gelendzhik, which was vandalized, will be restored by local activists. This was announced to Izvestia on July 29 by the current tenant of the territory, Alexander.

"Tomorrow, Gelendzhik activists, volunteers, we're going to dismantle these rubble in the morning, because it's a completely unsightly view. Well, then we will make a decision on restoration in the form in which it was originally," Alexander said.

He explained that the fortress is the former setting of the serial film of the same name, which remained in this place after filming in 2005. The tenant maintained the condition of the stone building.

According to him, on the evening of July 28, local residents heard clapping in the area of the "Thunder Gate", but did not pay attention to them. The destruction was seen only in the morning.

"Naturally, I contacted the police, the prosecutor's office, and the Investigative Committee on this issue, because the Thunder Gate is a symbol of patriotism for me. Everyone went there, remembering the old movie. In the current events, many people came there out of patriotic feelings," Alexander emphasized.

The tenant added that police officers are currently conducting an investigation into the incident. Tourist trips to the attraction have been suspended.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that vandals had painted and destroyed part of the Thunder Gate Fortress, which is popular with tourists. The act of vandalism was filmed by local residents, noting that two weeks ago everything was safe and sound.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
