- Bloomberg reported on the differences between Trump and Starmer during a meeting in Scotland
The meeting between US President Donald Trump and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer showed that there are big differences between them. This was reported by Bloomberg on July 29.
"Although Starmer and Trump sought to emphasize their positive working relationship, their differences were at times uncomfortably apparent during Trump's trip to Scotland," the publication says.
According to the agency, during the meeting of the two heads of state, which took place at the presidential golf resort in the Scottish village of Turnberry, the American leader criticized the UK government's policies on migration, crime, taxation and energy.
Trump expressed the opinion that Starmer needs to reduce taxes, reduce migration and stop crime in the UK if he "wants to defeat populist Nigel Farage in the next general election."
In addition, the head of the American administration also criticized the idea of the British government to introduce wind turbines. It is clarified that Trump called them "very expensive and disgusting energy."
Reuters reported on July 25 that Trump and Starmer could reach an "improved" trade deal between the countries during negotiations. At the same time, the politician clarified that the meeting with Starmer would be more a celebration of the deal than further work on it.
