Russia remains a supporter of the UN Security Council resolution on the creation of two states — Israel and Palestine. This was announced on July 29 by Chairman of the Federation Council of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko at the VI World Conference of Speakers of Parliaments in Geneva.

"Russia remains committed to the 1947 UN Security Council resolution on the establishment of two states. We are absolutely consistent in this and, as parliamentarians, we promote it on all international parliamentary platforms wherever possible," RIA Novosti quoted her as saying.

According to Matvienko, the state is closely monitoring the situation in the region. In addition, humanitarian aid is being provided in accordance with the decision of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Earlier, on June 20, Putin said that the states of the Global South could contribute to resolving the conflict in the Middle East. According to him, the principled position of the Russian Federation is that the security of some countries should not be ensured at the expense of others. As the head of state noted, he does not seek mediation, but for now just offers ideas.
