Russian swimmer Alexander Efimov was disqualified for four years for using meldonium. This was announced on July 29 on the website of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA).
"The Commission for the preliminary review of cases of violations of the anti—doping rules of the RAA RUSADA decided to disqualify athlete Efimov Alexander (sport — swimming) for four years for violations provided for in paragraphs 4.1 and 4.2 of the All-Russian Anti-Doping Rules," the statement said.
It is specified that the period of ineligibility of an athlete begins on May 5 of this year and ends in May 2029.
Efimov became the 52nd Russian athlete to be disqualified for using meldonium, Sport-Express reports.
Russian figure skater Nadezhda Ponteleenko was disqualified for four years on July 16 for using meldonium. It is specified that the athlete was suspended until April 18, 2028.
