The international pressure currently being exerted on Israel will not affect the country's current political course, but it jeopardizes the chances of the release of hostages and a cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on July 29 by Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar.

"Diplomatic pressure will not change our policy. International pressure should be exerted on the Hamas movement to force it to release the hostages and lay down its arms," The Jerusalem Post newspaper quoted Saar as saying at a press conference.

As the minister added, no external force can force Israel to sacrifice its security. Jerusalem always remains open to constructive dialogue, Saar said.

On July 24, French leader Emmanuel Macron announced his intention to recognize the State of Palestine. He noted that this will contribute to ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in the Gaza Strip, as well as rescue and comprehensive assistance to local residents. Shortly after, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the decision, considering it an encouragement of terror.

The next day, it was reported that Israel and the United States were looking for alternative ways to free the hostages from Gaza. According to Netanyahu, Hamas is an obstacle to concluding an agreement on the release of hostages.
