Vershinin and the Egyptian Foreign Minister spoke in favor of resolving the conflict in Gaza

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelati supported an early cease-fire in the Gaza Strip. This was announced on July 29 by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.

"Both sides stated the need to achieve an early ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian civilian population," the ministry said in a statement on its website.

The meeting between Vershinin and Abdelati took place at an international conference on achieving a Two-State solution to the Palestinian-Israeli Conflict in New York. The diplomats also discussed the tasks of further developing Russian-Egyptian cooperation, maintaining regular political dialogue and expanding trade, economic and humanitarian ties.

Earlier, on July 23, Egyptian Ambassador to Russia Nazih Naghari announced the end of his diplomatic mission in Moscow. He clarified that Russian-Egyptian contacts are in the nature of a comprehensive strategic partnership, and this is confirmed by projects in the industrial and energy sectors.
