Two supporters of a terrorist organization were detained in Dagestan.
In Dagestan, employees of the regional department of the FSB of Russia detained two people on suspicion of facilitating and participating in the activities of an international terrorist organization banned in the territory of the Russian Federation. This was announced on Tuesday, July 29, by the FSB's Public Relations Center.
According to the investigation, from 2023 to 2024, the suspects, while in Egypt, took part in the activities of a terrorist organization, sharing the idea of creating a worldwide caliphate. As its members, they performed various duties, including collecting funds via the Internet. The funds were intended for the purchase of weapons, ammunition, equipment and military equipment.
"In May 2024, these individuals returned to the Russian Federation, after which they were detained by law enforcement agencies and taken into custody," the statement said.
Criminal cases were initiated against the attackers under Part 1 of Article 205.1, Part 4 of Article 205.1, Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code ("Assistance to terrorist activities") and Part 2 of Article 205.5 of the Criminal Code ("Organization of the activities of a terrorist organization and participation in the activities of such an organization").
In addition, the investigation is taking measures to establish all the circumstances of the incident and identify possible accomplices.
On the same day, in Rostov-on-Don, FSB officers prevented a terrorist attack that was being prepared by a native of Central Asia on behalf of the special services of Ukraine. According to the agency, a homemade bomb with a capacity of 400 grams of TNT was seized from the detainee. It was also clarified that the detainee was confessing.
