Solo travelers prefer to stay in Russia this summer
Solo travelers, as they did a year ago, mostly stay in their home country: the share of hotel bookings in Russia is 79.6% (it increased by 3% over the year). OneTwoTrip, a travel planning service, analyzed this summer's hotel bookings and found out where Russians who prefer to relax alone have become more likely to travel, and in which cities they are less likely to choose housing. Izvestia got acquainted with the results of the study on July 30.
"Solo travelers began to relax a little less: the average booking period was 2.7 days compared to 2.9 last summer. Single tourists spend an average of 22.6 thousand rubles on housing on the train, and the check increased by 7% over the year," the analysts said.
This summer, solo travelers began to spend more time in Egypt: the country's share of total bookings increased by 81.9% over the year. The demand for hotels in Tajikistan has also increased significantly (+76.2%), and Vladimir took the third place on the list: 75.6% of single tourists went to one of the most beautiful cities in the Golden Ring of Russia. In addition, Tula (+56.1%), Romania (+36.7%), Omsk (+33.1%), Tyumen (+32.4%), South Korea (+29.5%) and Volgograd (+29.0%) were among the top destinations that became more popular.
Greece tops the list of destinations where Russians who prefer to relax alone are less likely to book hotels this summer: the country's share decreased by 81.8%. The demand for hotels in Estonia (-58.3%) and Cuba (-57.7%) fell almost equally. In addition, solo travelers are less likely to spend their summer holidays in Malaysia (-51.0%), Switzerland (-48.6%), Austria (-38.4%), the USA (-33.3%), Estonia (-31.8%), Azerbaijan (-29.7%) and Cyprus (-27.3%) this year.
Earlier, on April 18, the Association of Travel Aggregators (ATAG) and booking services reported on the growing demand for travel with children. According to Tutu, such bookings have more than doubled for the May holidays and 2.6 times for the summer.
