Warsaw may suffer heavy losses due to the trade agreement between the European Union (EU) and the United States. This was announced by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on Tuesday, July 29.

According to him, the proposed US duties on European goods are twice as low as those announced by American leader Donald Trump in April, but according to preliminary estimates, Poland could lose about $2.2 billion.

"The losses will be significant on both sides of the Atlantic, but a tough trade agreement is better than a senseless trade war between the allies," Tusk added on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

On July 27, US President Donald Trump announced a trade deal with the European Union. According to Bloomberg, the agreement will allow the EU to avoid the 30 percent tariffs that Washington could impose. In return, the EU agreed to purchase $750 billion worth of American energy supplies and invest another $600 billion in the United States economy. Later, Politico stated that in practice it would be impossible for EU countries to fulfill their promise to purchase energy resources from the United States.
