- The Federation Council called the delivery of US nuclear weapons to the UK a provocation
The US decision to deliver tactical nuclear weapons to the UK, probably to "send a signal" to Russia, is a provocation. This was stated by Vladimir Jabarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, in an interview with Izvestia on July 29.
"These tactical weapons originally belonged to the UK and were simply stored at American bases. But what's next? Will they use it? Russia's response will be so powerful that there will be nothing left of Britain. Therefore, I consider this to be another provocation," the source stressed.
Jabarov said that this demonstration of force by Washington is aimed at testing Moscow's patience. According to him, the Russian state is ready to repel any potential threat.
In addition, the senator added that the United States by its decision wants to convey to Russia that it is ready to use tactical nuclear weapons.
"If an attempt is made to strike Russia, they will not have time to come to their senses after launching their missiles, as they will receive a retaliatory strike," he concluded.
William Ahlberke, an expert at the Pacific Forum, reported on July 28 that the United States had placed nuclear bombs in the UK for the first time in 17 years, thereby signaling to Russia. Thus, Washington has shown that it is not going to "reduce its nuclear presence in Europe."
