Four people were killed and six injured in an accident on a highway in the Rostov region.

As a result of an accident involving four cars on the M-4 Don highway in the Rostov region, four people were killed and six more were injured. This was announced on Tuesday, July 29, by the main regional directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.

According to preliminary data, at about 01:30 Moscow time, the driver of a Mercedes Actros truck with a tank semi-trailer was moving in the direction of Rostov-on-Don when he hit the barrier fence on the right side. After that, the truck overturned and drove into the oncoming lane, where it collided with Peugeot Boxer, Volkswagen Passat and Lada Vesta cars.

"Four people were killed on the spot: the driver of a Mercedes truck, the driver with two passengers, including one minor, of a Volkswagen car," the department's Telegram channel said.

Six more people were taken to a medical facility in Shakhty: the driver of a Peugeot Boxer, as well as the driver and four passengers of a Lada Vesta, including two children.

Traffic on the M-4 Don highway from south to north is temporarily blocked. A detour along the Novocherkassk – Kamenolomni highway has been organized for drivers. Investigative and operational services are working on the spot, the circumstances of the incident are being clarified.

The day before, four trucks collided on the 40th km of the M-7 Volga highway in the Bogorodsky city district of the Moscow region, the driver of one of the trucks died in an ambulance. It was clarified that there was a passing car collision. Traffic police officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
