Representatives of Harvard University have indicated their willingness to pay $500 million to resolve the existing conflict with the US federal authorities. This was reported on July 28 in The New York Times (NYT), citing sources familiar with the situation.

"Harvard University has signaled its readiness to meet the demand of the administration of [US President Donald] Trump will spend up to $500 million to end the dispute with the White House," the publication says.

It is clarified that despite the renewed negotiations between the parties, the university does not intend to pay directly, and the participants in the negotiation process are still involved in discussing the exact financial terms of the likely transaction.

The article emphasized that the estimated amount is more than twice the same fine imposed by the administration of the American president on Columbia University. In addition, it is emphasized that the White House and Trump's aides have been "eyeing the wealth" of Harvard University for several months and believe that this institution of higher education is able to pay the negotiated amount.

On June 24, the Washington Post (WP) reported on the intention of the Trump office to resolve all existing disagreements with Harvard University, in particular, caused by the university's withdrawal of certification for admission of international students.
