Crews of T-72B3M tanks destroyed places of concentration of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine

Crews of T-72B3M tanks of the motorized rifle unit of the 8th Guards Combined Arms Army as part of the Center group of forces destroyed the concentration sites of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) personnel in the Red Army area of the special military operation (SVO) with fire from a closed firing position. This was announced by the Russian Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, July 29.

The operators of reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), having identified a large concentration of personnel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in one of the dilapidated buildings of the village, transmitted the coordinates of the target to the tankers. They quickly moved to a pre-prepared firing position, aimed the gun at the target and destroyed the identified targets from a distance of more than 8 km.

Shooting correction and target damage control in real time were carried out by UAV operators, which made it possible to minimize the time required to accurately destroy the target and the consumption of ammunition to complete a combat mission. In addition, the method of firing from the ZOP allows the tank to be used as an artillery installation, increasing the range of fire damage to 12 km, the defense ministry noted.

"We work at any range — 8-10 km. The most important thing is to shoot with the first [shot], then they will let you down and you can already hit with the second or third shell," said Artyom Perlovich, the tank's gunner.

On July 28, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation announced the destruction by gunners of the Dnepr group of forces of the AFU UAV control center on the right bank of the Dnieper River in the territory of the Kherson region. It was clarified that as a result of this operation, the manpower of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was also eliminated. After the successful destruction of the target identified by aerial reconnaissance, the servicemen of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation disguised their weapon and promptly left this firing position.
