The head of Roscosmos arrived in the United States for the first meeting with the head of NASA since 2018.

A Russian delegation led by Dmitry Bakanov, Director General of Roscosmos, arrived in Houston, Texas, in the United States to hold its first meeting with Sean Duffy, acting head of NASA, since 2018. This was announced by Roscosmos on July 28.

According to the ministry, the objects of the business program will be the Johnson Space Center, where the Russian delegation will be able to visit structural divisions and get acquainted with their work, the production units of Boeing, where the reusable manned transport spacecraft model CST-100 Starliner is being developed, as well as the spacecraft and spacecraft assembly building of the American company Space X.

Also, on the eve of the Crew-11 mission, which is scheduled for July 31, Bakanov plans to meet with the crew of the Crew Dragon spacecraft, of which Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov is a member.

In addition, it is noted that the Russian and American sides intend to discuss current interdepartmental projects during the negotiations.

"We plan to discuss the continuation of the cross-flight program, the issue of extending the operation of the International Space Station, as well as the activities of the Russian—American working group on the future safe descent of the ISS from orbit and the flooding of the station in a given area of the ocean," said the Director General of Roscosmos.

According to him, a draft program for station information from orbit is currently being developed. He stressed that according to preliminary estimates of experts, this process will take about two and a half years.
